Treasurer
Edward Bradford is the Treasurer for Onekama Township. He was appointed to fill a vacancy in December of 2020 and was subsequently elected to a partial term ending 11/2024. More information about the Treasurer can be found here.
Responsibilities
The statutory responsibilities of a general law Township treasurer are summarized below. The applicable statute is Revised Statutes of 1846.
- Collects real and personal property taxes
- Keeps an account of township receipts (revenues)
- Disburses township checks
- Deposits township revenues in approved depositories
- Invests township funds in approved investment vehicles
- Collects delinquent personal property tax
- Responsible for jeopardy assessments in collecting delinquent personal property tax
- Collects mobile home specific tax
- Must appoint a deputy
- Must post a surety bond
- Member of township elections commission
